For Western languages in which there exist substantial Diplomacy-playing communities -- such as the English, Italian, French, Dutch, Scandinavian and, of course German -- I am listing commonly used, three- and four-letter ASCII space abbreviations. My list is below. Have I omitted any significant abbreviations, please?

Also, I am aware that the French Diplomacy map identifies some spaces with different places than the English does, for example Cornwall instead of Wales and Odessa instead of Sevastopol. Does the German Diplomacy map also identify spaces with different places than the English does?

Information regarding Italian maps, Scandinavian maps, etc., would be well received if you had such information; but of course my principal request of you today regards German maps.
